Big Sister

Well, Mike a little bit let it out of the bag, so I guess I better put it out there... Saoirse is going to be a big sister!

Both the baby and I are doing well. We go for regular check ups and all the doctors see no complications. I have a team of people looking over everything, and everyone has been amazingly supportive. It's been a hard time emotionally, and I've had some trouble connecting with being pregnant again, but we are working through it, and deep down we are truly excited and happy. We know Saoirse would have loved being a big sister, and she would have been a great one.

  16. Kezia, mixed feelings are okay. Its okay to have regrets, hesitations, love, resentment, fear, excitement, sadness....everything. All at the same time even. You WILL get through. And you will have joy again. The sadness and fear will likely always be there to some degree, but you will have joy again and find your own way to make peace with the mixed feelings that may be there. Wish I were there to give you support, but have your back from the west coast! Love to you,
    Audra

  17. A Rainbow Baby for you. This is a beautiful explanation by a mom named Courtney.
"Rainbow Babies" is the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it doesn't mean the storm never happened or that the family is not still dealing with its aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover but the rainbow provides a counterbalance of color, energy and hope.

  18. I came across your blog just by chance. I have been reading it for a while. I need to tell you how sorry I am about your daughter. This is too common, for kids to have cancer. They say it is 'very uncommon' but from what I have seen/read/heard, there are way too many children with cancer or that have had cancer. I am sorry you had to battle your cancer while she did, too. That is just unfair...I mean, how does that happen??!! Bless you and your family. Your husband must be one of the strongest men alive. Congrats on your new baby to be. I know your life will never be the same w/out Saoirse and the pain of losing her, will never go away. But I hope you gain the strength to live your 'new normal.' Your blog reminds me a lot of Maya Thompsons blog. Rockstarronan.com. She lost her son to NB in May 2011. She has done some good stuff to bring more knowledge & awareness to childhood cancer (treatment). If you ever get time/feel like it, check out her blog. I hope you enjoy your pregnancy. Just remeber to breathe...xo
