New Lease on LIFE!

We have been vegan for 6 days now, and so far so good. I have found TONS of amazing recipes and, so far, they have all be delicious. I even made chocolate cake today! I am loving the way I feel. I've been sleeping better at night (with the exception of the random weird dreams), I have more energy during the day, I want to get up and do things, and I am feeling happier. I can already feel such a difference. For once, I am starting to feel more "normal."

Seriously - if you haven't watched "Forks Over Knives," check it out. It is worth a look. There is some serious science in there.

  1. I keep meaning to comment but forgetting so I'll write this before I forget. I just wanted to suggest that you check out something called "soap nuts" in your quest for natural. I have chemical sensitivies severe enough to be potentially life threatening (thankfully controlled enough that I hope that's not true) and soap nuts have been one of my best friends. The whole story of them is neat as they are environmentally and socioeconomically friendly for residents of an impoverished nation, (I'll let you look it up lest I appear to be selling them) but they are chemical and odor free. I use them as soap (and in the 2 years I have done this have not had dry skin like the other 34 years of my life) and laundry detergent (you can run loads on the quick cycle and save money and time since they don't need a 2nd rinse and your laundry has no odor but clean). I also have used them as a general cleaner, shampoo, and dandruff treatment. On vacation my sister borrowed some for my niece's diapers and wound up with clean diapers, no lingering odor, diapers for the first time in months; they did what stripping and sunshine had not. I am glad daily that I chose to get the little sample that made me a believer. There are lots of places to get them and you do need to read a bit to ensure you get quality products. I use Naturoli and have had no problems. They appaer to be a bit expensive but you use so little that a total of $45 has been 18 months and will extend probably another 12 months and I gave a good amount away.

Anyway, I can go on forever because I'm in awe of the soap nut.

  4. I have come across your blog through facebook and other families with children and cancer. I have been vegan for 2 years now. Every month gets a little easier...and it helps to have simple great tasting recipes. I recently found a website/blog that has plenty of tasty things to try - www.ohsheglows.com - I promise you will love them. Good luck with your veganism and thank you for sharing your daughters journey with all of us. You are such an inspirational family. NEGU!
