Organic Living

I think I'm going to start writing about our forays into organic living. I have to figure out if I can post a second blog on this page. Or I might just make a second page and link to it. So far our pantry is empty. I'll have to take a picture of the emptiness and post it on my first post. I can't wait to share some of the stuff I've found out about.

  2. kezia thats a great idea. i have alot of stomach issues and all the doctors want to do is givr me pills that make me feel worse. i would love to hear your ideas because i really think most of my health issues are do to the pesticides and hormones put into the food.

  3. Can't wait to hear what you've found out. I myself love eating healthy but I struggle with my husband and my oldest daughter so maybe you'll find something that will make it easier.

  4. I love this idea. My husband and I build a very, very green home in 2010, so I know all about that, but sometimes I feel like I know more about keeping the earth healthy than myself. I look forward to following and learning from your journey.

BTW, I don't think Blogger will let you start a whole second blog at this address, but you can set up a second one through the same Google account and just add a link or even post links here to each new post on the other blog.

  5. before i became pregnant my husband and i were slowly changing out some of the common chemicals and cleaning aids to "natural cleaners" just as an environmental thing. once i became pregnant my focus was on what i ate and chemicals i was potentially around (working in or around laboratories can freak you out during pregnancy). once she was born we installed a filter at the sink tap and concerned ourselves with all things about containers and her food sources (glass vs. plastic, plastics without bph, all organic food for her). and now, now that she's supposed to be eating what we eat i find myself in a completely different ball game. her health is tied to mine, and i have to look after both of us. sure, i know where to buy those things we need to purchase "organic", and i know where one thing is cheaper than the other. i often find i need to visit at least 3 stores to get what we need. if we quit drinking diet coke that could be reduced to 2 on most occasions. and that brings me to my actual point. i've realized i need to get serious. in addition to needing to stop drinking that toxic diet coke (my god, reading the ingredients make you cringe) i've been mulling over having our own organic vegetable garden. we aren't rural -we actually live about one town over from you- so it wouldn't be large, but for just us i think it would be a reasonable adventure. it's just a thought. maybe your own small starter garden could be something that might interest you. maybe be therapeutic, as well as give you some peace of mind. i am thinking of starting one this spring/summer. researching the topic now. i will probably end up blogging about it and have the kid join in. she may only want to make mud pies, but that's not so bad. maybe i'll test the soil for lead just in case she decides to eat any.

  7. I have been reading you blog for several months now and have been so inspired by your family and all that you are going through. My story is so different than yours, but I can relate to some of the things you have gone through. My 23 year old sister has been fighting (and beating) lung cancer since April of 2011. I have been vegetarian for 16 years and vegan for 6 years. My sister has made major transformatons on her health since her diagnosis, cutting out smoking, sugar, and everything in between. I have been eating primarily organic for several years now. I have lots of ideas and resources for you if you are interested. I certainly dont know everything, but Im willing to share what I have. Please email me if you need any ideas, inspiration, or support. My email is mfarris29@gmail.com.

Look forward to hearing from you!
